Rezora 101: Templates vs. Marketing Pieces

rez_ban.jpgIf you manage your company’s Admin account – you may have noticed that with the new Template Tool came some things in your account looking slightly different. These changes are subtle, however, we want to be sure they make sense! In order to do this, we’re answering 1 primary question that we think will clear the air: What’s the difference between a Template and a Marketing piece?

What is a Template?
A template is the bare bones, the skeleton, the foundation of a Marketing Piece. You use a template to create a marketing piece.

Only rezora and Marketing Admins can make changes to templates. If this is a template rezora has coded for you, we are the only ones who can make edits. If this is a template you’ve created yourself using the Template Builder, you can make changes to it.

What is a Marketing Piece?
If the Template is the foundation, the Marketing Piece is the actionable item. Essentially, the large difference between the Marketing Piece and the Template is that you can actually schedule the Marketing Piece out on behalf of your agents. Even if you select the Template for your Marketing piece, make no changes, and send - what you're sending is still a Marketing Piece.

Like a template, you can also publish a Marketing Piece so agents can choose to send it out of their own account as well.

Anyone can create a Marketing Piece to send. If you’re in the Admin account, you’ll simply select a template, create a Marketing piece using that template, and publish it for whomever to see and to send, or schedule it to be sent on their behalf. Once you’ve published this Marketing Piece, it will appear as on option when an agent selects a Template to send out as a Marketing Piece.

Send Data: Template vs. Marketing Piece
If you see send data next to a Template, this data is compiled based off of agents that have used that template to send a Marketing Piece out of their own account.

If you see send data next to a Marketing piece, this reflects the data based off of a specific Marketing Piece you’ve scheduled out of the admin account on the agents’ behalf.

If I’m in the Admin Account and I’m still confused, how can I tell?
When you click on your “Templates” Tab, a list of Templates AND Marketing Pieces alike will appear. Just because you’ve clicked on the Templates tab, it does not mean that this list is exclusively Templates. There are a few ways you can tell if something is a Template or a Marketing Piece:

If you’ve been creating your own templates with our Template tool, you can tell these templates apart from Marketing Pieces if:

  • It has a v2 next to it (this means it’s a template you’ve created using the Template Tool…if it’s still a Template but was not created using the Template Builder Tool – it will not have a V2 next to it.
  • If it has the option to Copy (Note* If a template was coded for you by rezora, and NOT created using the template tool, it will not have the option to Copy)

Once again, if you’ve published a Marketing Piece and scheduled it on your agents’ behalf – it will pop up here too. It just won’t have a V2 next to it, and you won’t be able to copy it. Likewise, templates that rezora has coded for you will be in this list – they just won’t have a V2 or the option to copy.

A little something extra:
You can now Archive templates! When you click on a Template in your Templates tab, you should now see a little box you can check to Archive that template. So if you’ve been creating some test templates and they’re clogging up your template list – archive those suckers! But don’t worry – they’re not gone for good. If you ever need to recover them, simply click on the “Archive” Template Status in your Template dashboard and you can recover them.

We hope this helps clear the air a bit – but as always, if you have question, please feel free to come through support and ask away!
