5 Ways to Stay Motivated with Your Work

How to stay motivated

Do you ever find yourself losing interest in your work? Does your lack of inspiration reflect in your performance? If you answered yes, then do not worry because you're not alone. According to an article written for CNBC called "Nearly half of global employees unhappy in jobs: Survey" recent studies show that 48% of employees worldwide dislike their jobs, more than 80% of US workers feel anxious and stressed at the office, and only 30% feel “engaged and inspired” by their careers. When you aren’t interested in your work, it becomes harder to get up and do well every day. According to Academy of Management, happy employees who find joy at their jobs are significantly more productive. So what measures can you take to hearten your work performance? We organized a list of simple every day actions to help you stay inspired.

  1. Create small, achievable goals
  • If you set goals for yourself, you get a sense of fulfillment every time you complete each The best way to do this is to sit down and decide where you want to improve and what the best ways are to do so. Depending on how much you want to get done, you can create monthly goals, weekly goals, and daily goals. This will help you have the drive to work towards something and become the best you can be at your job.
  • Example: A set of goals could look like this...
  1.  Monthly or Quarterly: Earn 3-4 referrals by the end of the month (or quarter)
  2.  Week: Create 3 display ads by Friday.
  3. Daily: Today I will organize an outline for my marketing plan to earn more referrals.

  1. Stay up to date on your industry
  • When you read about new trends and developments in your industry, you are constantly learning new things. This way you are never bored because you are always learning about a new way to do something. Staying up to date entails relevant news as well as whatother people in the industry are doing successfully. Keep yourself from getting bored by learning new things, sharing information with others, and discussing your findings. This will make you a master in your industry and motivate you to do better.

  1. Avoid stressing over small things
  • This step is easier said thandone, but once you learn how to focus on the right things, you will feel weight lifted off of your shoulders. Stress is inevitable but it can be controlled. Every time you feel yourself beginning to freak out, take a second to analyze the situation and brainstorm efficient solutions. Save your stress for bigger problems.
  • Some ways to avoid stress:
  1.  Stay organized/ Constantly update your calendar
  2.  Don't over commit yourself
  3.  Make lists so that your thoughts are on paper and not bouncing around in your head
  4.  Find time to relax

  1. Celebrate your little wins
  • Though sometimes we can be hard on ourselves, we have to remember to feel good about our small successes. Every time you achieve a goal or your hard work is recognized, that’s a personal win! You have to be your own number one fan so that you can feel good about the work you are doing. Positive reinforcement is powerful and can really make or break a workplace. When you are motivated by little wins, you begin to find yourself working towards them with more ambition ultimately leading to a more productivity.

  1. Set a time to quit
  • This may seem straightforward but it is more important than most people think. Sometimes our work can take longer depending on the day but if you try to stick to a time each day that you stop checking your emails then you can make more time for yourself to relax. Even something as simple as trying to take Sundays off will help.Having "you" time is vital so that your whole life doesn’t become your career. Oftentimes people become worn out because they lose sight of who they are outside of the office. Set times for yourself where work is not included so that you can rejuvenate for the next work day.
